Matters of the Heart

My two little sweethearts are napping. I just baked cookies . . . I've lit my favorite candle, and turned the sticks in my lemon verbena diffuser. Today I'm blue.

My adorable mother-in-love is bravely fighting cancer (her prognosis is excellent, but the treatment is tough). My precious childhood friend Sarah received news just this morning that her father, too, has cancer. Over the weekend we lost a very dear family friend, one of my grandfather's friends since high school. He went to sleep here on earth and woke up in heaven. My sweet little dog Ellie is recovering from having fourteen teeth pulled today. My other little dog Chloe (who now resides full-time with my in-loves) had a lump removed to be biopsied. It's a blue-kind-of-day, and I'm in need of a pick-me-up.

"Because of the Lord's great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22-23

"But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you." Psalm 5:10-12

"Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Psalm 23:5-6

" . . . for your love is ever before me, and I walk continually in your truth." Psalm 26:3

"I will be glad and rejoice in your love, for you saw my affliction and knew the anguish of my soul." Psalm 31:7

"Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies." Psalm 36:5

His love is better than a million chocolate chip cookies.

  1. Oh dear friend. I'm sorry. I'm hear if you need an ear, shoulder or someone to taste test the cookies on. You are loved and I am lifting you up.

  2. Oh Amanda. Thank goodness for the morning and new compassions. Thank goodness that we can take refuge in Him and Rejoice (of all things). Thank Heavens for His Love and that we can dwell with Him through this season. Thank you, Jesus, for your love and that you see our afflictions and our deepest hurts. I am grateful that His love and faithfulness is deeper and wider than we can ever imagine. I love you sweet friend. I appreciate this post and your perspective. Praying that today will bring sweet joys to you. Talk with you soon...
    Love,
    Amy

  4. I know you don't know me..so let me quickly introduce! My name is Lynn Williams, I'm 49 & I live in Florida! I have a daughter & three sons who are all growed- up! sniff.. and I have 4 beautiful granddaughters & 2 handsome grandsons, ALL my daughters! I am partially disabled w/ bladder cancer, RSD= an incurable disease that causes severe pain 24/7 & can spread to other body parts, I have stage 2 kidney disease, & a heart valve problem, and Graves disease..Needless to say, I don't get out a lot these days w/ feelin' ick! soo..I LOVE reading blogs of what is happening in people's lives! I was able to help in a daycare w/ the infants for about 2 yrs through a remission and I LOVE LOVE babies! More than that, I LOVE my Lord.. I'm not just a Christian, the Lord IS my LIFE! There IS 1 cool thing about having the health challenges, and that is seeing 1st hand the strength, peace, joy & love the Lord gives me through it all when I trust Him! Confession time! Monday I had a treatm't for the Graves disease & its made me feel HORRIBLE..PLUS I have to stay 6 ft. away from everyone..including my HUBBY :( because the treatm't is radioactive! So I was feelin' pretty down with the pain..until I read this post of yours..The Lord really used it to turn my mind & feelings around back to HIM! So..as a sister in Christ, I wanted to say 'thank you'..& that you never know how much you might help someone..by what you write!
