The great big blogosphere

Today I am walking on sunshine.

I've loved {and stalked, although always from the confines of my house, which should prove I'm not scary} Joni Webb of Cote de Texas for years.  She writes a delicious blog on all things design related, with a focus on my favorite, French style.  Also an interior designer, her work has been featured in Better Homes & Gardens, Houston House & Home, HGTV.  Cote de Texas has been listed as a must-see in top shelter mags--House Beautiful & Southern Living.  Her top ten list makes me want to swoon . . .  And the pictures, my goodness, the pictures are always amazing.  I pin like mad after nearly every one of her posts!

Today, she has done a write-up on me and my little roost.

Makes we want to do cartwheels!

My humble house is such a work-in-progress.  We love our little money-pit, and have just about fixed all of the non-fun stuff {A/C & heater, roof, plumbing leaks, stairs, flooring and more}.  We've tweaked nearly every light fixture, replaced vent covers and outlet covers, painted trim and walls just about everywhere.  The fireplace was a major overhaul.  It's been well worth the blood, sweat & tears.

We're finally getting to the good stuff.  I can spend time thinking about things like fabric and trim, antiques and furnishings.  I have renewed my ASID membership, and filed my official business name in the great state of Texas {more on that soon}.  I feel like I have finally climbed out of the trenches of very-early motherhood.  I'm still a stay-at-home mom . . .  I just finally have a little breathing room.

And, for a girl who just loves design, it's a dream come true to be able to make this home beautiful.

And speaking of making this house beautiful, I think my pretty new sectional needs some pillows. Here are some contenders . . . Aubusson is a favorite of mine, but some linen mixed in would be wonderful, too.

I will need several--it's a big sectional!!  And I think I may run over to Tuesday Morning and see if they have any of these left . . .  Something tells me that I wont be completely happy using Cameron's many pink blankies . . .

You can have them monogrammed online--Peacock Alley has discontinued these throws.  I think they're lovely!  And my little people sure do love to snuggle up with blankets . . .

Back to Cloud Nine.  More soon--and thank you, all of you, again!

  1. I just read Joni's post on your house - your house is beautiful! I love how the colors are so soft and flow from room to room. I've tried to search your blog for your paint colors. Do you have a post listing your wall colors?

  2. You have done a wonderful job with your home. It is incredible. I especially found it interesting because we we lived in The Woods up to 2 years ago and live in Tulsa now. We totally redid our home there and bought a home here that is a true fixer upper! Would love to subscribe to your blog but could not find where to do it?? Thanks for sharing your beautiful home with us.

    1. Hi Debra--Thank you so very much! I have to tell you--I'm jealous--Tulsa is so lovely! My husband and I always talk about someday living there . . . I'm in desperate need of a blog-make-over, just haven't carved out time to do it! That said, at the very bottom of the blog, there is a small link that says "subscribe by email". That will get you on the list! Hopefully I can add some user-friendly links soon. Best of luck with your fixer-upper--it's a labor of love! Fondly--Amanda

  6. After seeing your house I feel like I need to start over on mine! I love the carpet you used in the master and kids' bedrooms. Can you tell me the brand and names of the carpets? I have been looking for a seagrass/jute/sisal alternative because I just can't get over the feel. Thank you!

    2. Thank you both so very, very, very much! My sweet house is very much a budget-oriented work-in-progress, and your dear compliments MEAN THE WORLD!! Okay, details--the carpet is from Masland. It's called "Inverness" Color Birdseye Maple. I just love it. I believe there is a very similar carpet at Home Depot, a little less $$, by Martha Stewart that looks a LOT like seagrass. I just don't have the specifics on it . . . Hope that helps! Mine is made with Luxurelle {sp?} fibers, and is super-soft. Good for the little people in my life who love, love, love to play on the floor. Thanks so much for stopping by!! Fondly--Amanda

    4. Thanks for the info. Some bloggers are so stingy with their sources! BTW, I have seen the Martha Stewart collection at Home Depot, but it's just not quite right. Will look at the Masland.

Another question for you - would you use sisal, seagrass or jute on a staircase or in a family room? I like the durability and price, but I have never walked on it barefoot in a house, just on swatches. I worry about my kids, especially sliding down the staircase on their bums. ;0)

    5. You're so very welcome! For a softer feel, especially with little ones, I'd probably lean towards the sisal. I haven't seen it myself--but I know there are some wonderful blends of natural fibers available now. Seagrass is so easy to care for, so if you can find a blend or a "soft seagrass", that will make a HUGE difference. Jute is really soft, but I don't believe it's as stain resistant. Joni of Cote de Texas has a GREAT post on seagrass and the competitors!
